We hope everyone is keeping safe during this unprecedented time. Given everything going on, it remains more important than ever that we stay connected with one another. For over 10 years, KPMG in the Bay Area has been leading discussions to bring awareness to corporate diversity in the region and nationally. Please join us for the spring Building a Diverse Board webcast on Thursday, May 14, in partnership with the Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA).

This program has its roots in a focus on increasing the number of women in the boardroom, and while progress has been made, and needs to continue, the time is ripe to take the long view by examining the value of broader inclusive diversity on company boards. Thus, this session will focus on Latinos in the boardroom of companies in Silicon Valley and across the country.

Latinos comprise just over 18 percent of the U.S. population and nearly 40 percent of the population of California, and these percentages are expected to continue to grow. While the importance of the Latino community to the US economy cannot be overstated, Latino voices are rarely represented in the corporate boardrooms, with fewer than 3 percent of Fortune 1000 board seats held by Latinos—despite increasingly loud calls for improved diversity on boards.

KPMG Board Leadership Center and LCDA’s long partnership allows us to collaboratively review the current landscape of Latino representation in the boardroom and also to engage in a discussion about how to make progress. KPMG’s Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Michele Meyer‑Shipp, will moderate the discussion with our featured panelists.
