Impact of California Assembly Bill 5

Learning objectives:

o Discuss California AB 5, the traditional “ABC” test for worker classification and how both impact corporate and employment taxation

o Identify California’s “Borello test” for Independent Contractor classification, and why it’s still important

o How to recognize whether your company is properly classifying its workers for federal, California, and multistate purposes

o Identify the ramifications in California and nationally with respect to improper worker classification penalties you can be assessed for improper classification

o Discuss recent proposed legislation that would amend portions of AB 5

Estimated CPE credits: This program is worth approximately 1.5 CPE credits.

Target audience: C-suite executives, Controllers, Heads/Presidents/Vice Presidents of Tax, and Heads/Presidents/Vice Presidents of Audit with an Independent Contractor workforce
